Put a little more into this one to further check out CS5 bristle brushes...very nice. I tried to keep detail more selective, and use a more graphic feel on the mountains/bg. I feel I can push the scene even more so throw down some critiques please!
And here are a few drawings - loosely based on some dinos and things for fun. Thanks for having a look

I think your town has too much contrast/darks...when I squint my eyes, it feels in front of the plains instead of behind...either values, or put someone/something in the extreme foreground that cuts across the town and gives a better sense of depth. I like the impressionistic level of detail a lot :)
ReplyDeleteI can feel ya on that - the buildings and walls are very dark in the picture, however I am feeling that I should have compensated a bit more. The air is just so clear in New Zealand that atmospheric perspective is nowhere to be found :P
ReplyDeletehey dude your new painting studies are really nice...small issues with some stuff but overall nice handling. nothing a soft airbrush cant fix.
ReplyDeleteNice study. I like your firmer commitment to the edges. Watch your values though, for instance I think there's too much green going on in the town.
